Delta Flight 237

What happens when a Large Language Model like ChatGPT generates fictional content?
Right when viral AI generated pictures around the Internet provide us with some fun “hahas” and “lolz”, we are reminded how convincingly artificial creations mimic reality, posing significant implications for fields such as journalism, academia, and law.

Delta Flight 237 narrates the legal case of Mr. John Martinez, who, as the plaintiff, recounts an incident when a poorly secured beverage cart struck him mid-flight, resulting in multiple injuries. The theatre performance involved a ChatGPT generated court transcript, sound and AI visual forensics presented through the lens of a 1989 slide projector.

As Large Language models like ChatGPT predict the next token – generating-a-pattern-in-
strings-of-text – Midjourney interprets natural language in Apocalyptic visions and predictions of
doomed scenarios carrying the reader through a new ritual of algorithmic divination.

Weapons of Mass Seduction

Many people do not play video games just to kill some time but have a fully rounded passion.

Imagine you are about to hit third base with your date. They walk you through the corridor of
their shared apartment and...surprise! An epic prop wall with carefully refined video game
weapons hanging on it stands in front of your eyes. Are you cringed or are you amazed? Do you
leave or do you stay?

Weapon props have a cringe yet exciting cool factor. What’s creepier than the fetishization of
devices that have one purpose: murder?

The multimedia installation made in collaboration with Orestis Tilemachou was exhibited
during Dutch Design Week 2023 as part of the group exhibition ‘Cringe or Cool?’ curated by
Studio Dogtooth and featured in KUBAPARIS.

Hydrotopia 2050

In Hydrotopia 2050 players step into the future, embodying the year 2050, reflecting on past
efforts made to overcome climate challenges. Through the lenses of the ancestors – from the
nudist, to the pond, to the beaver – and employing a variety of tools – like myth making, memes or corporate sabotage – to takle climate disasters. This live-action role play (LARP) game employs reflective methodologies, envisioning a future where restorative justice prevails.

Involving both human-to-human and human-to-more-than human interdependence, the
aim of the game is to compile an archive of solutions to the challenges posed by climate change as an alternative to the bleak prospects of climate doom.

Departing from onsite research on endangered water body of Müggelsee (Berlin) and in
collaboration with Poorvi Garag and Ieva Valule, the project was mentored by the International
Architecture Biennial Rotterdam with Waterschap De Dommel as a knowledge partner in
Eindhoven, NL.

Transhabitat

The more-than-human crustacean avatar reports histories from the wetlands.

An anonymous blue crab – preserved as avatar in a prosthetic shell – recalls the deadly wave
of climate disaster caused by anthropocentric forces one moment before the storm is about to happen. The crustacean reflects on the history and ecology of disappearing wetlands in the territory of Venice, as part of research conducted for Pedagogies of the Sea in collaboration with Alessio Pinton, Matteo Volonterio and TBA21–Academy.

The sound and video installation merges mythmaking, more-than-human narratives, and ecological futures, at a time when technology increasingly permeates ecosystems.
